Hello everyone. I just wanted to bring you up to date with what has been going on. The school year is almost over and the kids will be out of school for the summer soon, June 12TH to be exact, they will return in September. Tiana has to transfer to a new school (Kennedy, Saint Clair Shores) since she'll be starting 7TH grade. It's hard to believe that she's almost 13 years old!
We are planning an active summer with the kids. The beach is high on our list since our two children love to swim. To kick things off, we had a picnic in the park the other day, and they loved it!
Their school (Kaiser Elementary)had an end of year concert, where each class sang for the parents. It was the best concert that I have ever attended at the school. They put everything into the event and it was wonderful. Great job teachers! Some of the songs the children sang almost brought tears to your eyes, only a child's voice can do that. I was so glad that I attended and will always remember how well the children performed. As I listened to the children singing, the thought of the children who were slaughtered at Sandy Hook school in Connecticut only months ago popped into my head, and how they would never get a chance to sing for their parents. What a terrible thought. Something has to change in this country when dangerous weapons are so easily attained by people with mental problems. We can do a lot to prevent a lot of this from happening, but everyone has to get on board before change will happen. Let's hope that common sense will prevail and people with the will to make life in the country safer for our children will prevail. All children should be safe from harm, at school or anywhere else.
As summer moves on and I have something to add, I will post more, so please check back.
Have a wonderful weekend and summer from your friends in Michigan USA!
