Dying from tobacco abuse...

Well, did you all make it through 08 alright? I hope so. I guess that we should all be glad that 2008 is finally behind us. For us over here in Detroit, we have to live with a football team that set an unbreakable record, going 0-16...can you imagine how bad that you have to be, not to be able to win only one game? LOL Honestly, this year the Lions are "guaranteed" that they cannot do any worse, but if it were possible, I think that this useless team would go for that record too!

Anyway here's something worth talking about, I want to make a follow up to a post that I made some time back, about my nephew who passed away, cigarettes diagnosed as the cause. Now his younger brother (who also smokes heavily) has also contracted CANCER from smoking! He will know this month how much time that he has left too. I went over to see him when he was diagnosed with lung tumors, and even then, when they still thought that the doctors could do something (operate) to save his life...he continued to smoke! I told my sister, that you cannot help someone who won't help themselves! You can talk until you're blue in the face, and nothing changes! Talk about STUPID!
The real problem is, most people think of smoking cigarettes as a "habit" rather than an addiction to tobacco. I was once a smoker as well, but I quit smoking after the MMA published several articles about the hazards of smoking tobacco. Like drug abuse, some people are so addicted to tobacco that they may have to eventually be hospitalized to break this terrible addiction. We may see the day when some people who are addicted to tobacco have to be hospiaized to break their addiction to tobacco. They had to do it for alchole addition, so for some people, this may be the only way to save their lives.
Some of you who still smoke cigarettes and are offended by what I'm saying about tobacco, may need to stop and realize that it's not you talking, it's the tobacco. I know this first hand because I was a three (3)pack a day smoker at one time, and I too thought like you....but after you truly quite for good, you'll soon realize that it was true after all...tobacco really can talk, and what it says is...DON'T LISTEN TO THIS GUY, LISTEN TO ME, HAVE JUST ONE MORE CIGARETTE, THEN ANOTHER AND ANOTHER AND ANOTHER and on and on it goes...it never stops, until like my nephew, you wind up on a cold hard slab somewhere! Yes my friends, smokers really do finally quit smoking!
