Goodbye 2008!
2008 was a bad year all the way around. For our family it was particularly bad, since we lost two of our people. On the 19TH of December my Nieces daughter (Holly)passed away, and on Christmas day my wife Ana lost her beloved uncle. They found him dead on the floor of an apparent heart attack, right after enjoying Christmas dinner with her family in the Philippines!
You may also remember that Ana lost her other uncle Philip a couple of years back too, when a neighbor and his three sons hacked him to death with "bolo knifes", then "beheaded" him before being jailed. It was a brutal murder that has yet to be resolved. Two of his sons are still at large and yet to be captured.
With me, my nephew (Walter)passed away last summer, and if you've read my last post, his younger brother (Wes)has contracted "lung cancer" and he too is not expected to live much longer!
My sister must be pulling her hair out, because she's lost her husband and two of her sons just in the past four years! If this isn't a test of faith, then I don't know what is.
In 2008 My Grandson (Matt) received orders for deployment (Army)to Afghanistan in early 2009.
So all is not peaceful in Paradise, believe me. I hope that you have not experienced such misfortunes as our family has, but we go on no matter what happens...because that's all that anyone can do. Remember, we still have small children to raise and people to take care of (Philippines) who are less fortunate than us. So as long as we live and breath, we have obligations to help our less fortunate relatives, this Ana and I are committed to do.
So take a moment to reflect on this past year and be glad that it's over with. Let's all hope for better things to come in this new year and the following years to come.
If you are a religious person, then please pray for our new president, he sure has great challenges ahead, and he's going to need all the help that he can get from the Americans people. This won't be easy to get out of, so everyone has to be patient...it took a long time for this "melt down" to accure, and it's going to take an equal amount of time to correct it. Nothing is going to happen over night.
Here's something of interest: Take the time to read about the pastor who tried to live the life of Jesus for one year, who also voted for Obama. Thanks for taking the time to read my Blog, and have a great week.
