My nephew contracted lung cancer from smoking!
Did I tell you that I've just received word that my nephew (Wesley) has contracted lung cancer? Yes, he is addicted to tobacco and should have known better. His brother just passed away last year along with his father to a heart attack, so this is a big hit for my sister. I read in USA Today that Robert Goulet has some sort of fatal lung disease also and is waiting for a lung transplant in a Los Angeles hospital. The article said that lung transplants are 98% successful! Wow, that's good news, so there still may be hope for Wes. I don't know much more except that he has gone for a biopsy. Any more information will come in a later Blog. Please, please, please if you smoke QUIT before it's too late. I used to be a smoker myself, three packs a day at one time and I quit, not just for myself but for my family. I have to be here to raise the kids and take care of everyone, this is my responsibility to all of them. What good am I to anyone if I'm dead? There is so much information out there about how bad tobacco is for you, lung cancer, heart disease leading to a heart attack, artery disease, man it goes on and on. If your family depends on you like mine does me then you have to quit no matter how hard it is. or long it takes you. Believe me, when you've finally beat your addiction, you'll be so happy you did!

I used to smoke too. With some determination, I was able to quit the habit successfully.
2 of my brothers-in-law succumbed to lung cancer too. They were both heavy smokers and drinkers.
Ted,
Thank you for your story. Wes was told yesterday by his Doctor that if he doesn't quit smoking right away that he will not help him. They don't know if anything can be done to help him anyway until next week. Watch my blog for more on this story. Again, thanks for your comment.
Rick
