Mobile Internet Access
I really don’t know where to start about this wap site article, but I do believe that it will be a while before the mobile website really takes off in this country. Most people that I know of only use their phones for conversation and really don’t care whether they can access the Internet on it or not. Unless you actively use the Internet a lot, then you really wouldn’t need a device that did so. Another problem is, the price. The Iphone for example is too costly for most people and the people that I know of who actually purchased one did so because of the novelty of being one of the first to own one. People are people and follow trends, then trends end and people go elsewhere for their next "high". Take the Razr phone for example, at first everyone had to have one, now who really cares if you own one or not? What I see first of all is affordability and cost effective access to the Internet. New devices with a Mobile Marketing feature as the primary selling point with phone access secondary will be the way to go and probably not be sold specifically as a phone such as the IPHONE is today. Maybe we'll see such a device which will talk back to you and act more like a mini computer rather than a phone. Just imagine going to USA Today and picking a story and having it read back to you! This is just in it’s infancy anyway so anything is possible. I’m sure that we’ll see new devices come on the market in the next few years, but until someone really cracks the nut with a best of both worlds device, I think that SMS marketing will still lag behind in the states. Until then, Laptops will still rule the market for mobile Internet access.
